Dear Students,
Australian Government will conduct the first national test of AusAlert, Austalia's new emergency warning system.
The test will take place during school hours, and in Western Australia, it is expected to occur at approximately 12:00 pm AWST. Compatible mobile devices that are turned on may receive the test message. This includes:
- Mobile phones
- Tablets
- Smart watches
- Children safety watches
When the test is received, devices will:
- Vibrate
- Play a loud siren-like sound for approximately 10 seconds, even if the device is on silent or Do Not Disturb mode.
The message will clearly say it is a test. You don’t need to take any action.
If receiving the AusAlert national test will disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, turn your mobile devices off or switch them to ‘aeroplane mode’ before the scheduled test time in your location and leave them off for at least one hour.
If you don’t receive a test alert, don’t worry. You don’t need to do anything.
